Jennifer and David

Some shots of Jennifer and David who are now happily engaged and plan to get married next year. Photographs were taken last Sunday. The sunshine was in plenty and the close by Urambi hills was an excellent suggestion from the family. Even a few roos showed up.

Snowy mountain highway

Exploring the Snowy mountain highway was quite enjoyable. Although it hadn't snowed for a few days, the whole stretch of about 180 kilometres from Cooma to Tumut turned out to be complete with windy mountain hugging roads (with signs every few minutes warning the drivers to watch out for a variety of native fauna but mostly for wild horses), rolling hills, montane forest, snow capped peaks sticking out in the distance and small towns with tongue-twister names like Adaminaby, Lake Eucumbene and Yarrangobilly. It is a refreshing drive in a lot of ways. You could not go very far without stopping to take in the sweeping panorama. First thing that strikes you as you get out of the car is the absolute silence. Even the noise of closing the car door makes you feel that you've just violated some unwritten code of conduct. After driving for most part of the day we were thankful for the blue skies, absence of snow on the road or any wildlife under our car and a few photographs.

Intruding into the quietness

Mountains are good for the soul. Although at 758 metres Mt. Stromlo is more of a hill than a giant alpine peak. Yet I found it to be true. Solitary and quiet at the top with a grand vista down below seemed to slow things right down. A quickly vanishing day baptised with the brilliant evening sun made it feel as though we were at the right place at the right time. We were not the only visitors of course. Scores of Kangaroos were enjoying the sunset along with their luscious supper. Armed with the camera I wasted no time. I shot till I was content.
